New Course “Interpreting in Educational Settings” Now Available from The Academy of Interpretation.

Tysons, Virginia – March 15, 2023 – The Academy of Interpretation (AOI), the interpreter training department of Liberty Language Services, is proud to announce the launch of the new interpreting course, “Interpreting in Educational Settings: A Comprehensive 24-Hour Course.” This course is designed to provide professional interpreters with the skills and knowledge they need to work effectively in K-12 educational settings.

Interpreting is a crucial skill that bridges the gap between people who speak different languages, and in educational settings, it is especially important to ensure that students who are English learners and their families can fully participate and understand educational goals, expectations, and progress. With the growing diversity in schools, interpreters are in high demand, and this course will equip individuals with the skills they need to succeed in this field.

“Interpreting in Educational Settings” is a comprehensive course that covers a range of topics including interpreting techniques, ethical considerations, terminology specific to educational settings, and more. Interpreters enrolled in the course will also have the opportunity to engage in interactive exercises and access a toolkit of resources for interpreters.

“We are thrilled to offer this new course to individuals interested in pursuing an interpreting career in educational settings,” said Sameh Abdelkader, the Director of Education for the AOI. “We’ve partnered with podcast host Mireya Pérez to tackle the issues interpreters face in educational settings and provide solutions and best practices for them to succeed.”

This course is for fully bilingual individuals who have completed interpreter training courses and are certified or qualified as professional or court-eligible interpreters. It is especially recommended for individuals who are interested in working in educational settings, such as K-12 schools.
